CIPD’s latest (2007) analysis of workplace absence found that mental ill health is the second largest factor in people taking time off sick from work. The study assessed 30,000 real employee absence records, and found that mental ill health comes second only to musculoskeletal conditions as the reason for employee absence due to ill health
